This is a one-way pressure release valve to prevent a rupture due to high or low pressure environments (such as an airplane).  This is not a hole in the seal. In some cases you may see liquid from the product that was relieved through the valve and oxidized, but this does not effect the product in any way. The products undergo strict testing for Mold, Bacteria and other contaminants.
